The enzymes are mostly found in higher plants, yeasts, and fungi. CAD catalyzes the formation of cinnamyl alcohol and NADP+ from cinnamaldehyde and NADPH. The NADPH consumption rate is measured at 340nm to reflect the activity of CAD.
