Myelin staining Kit (modified page method)

Myelin sheath is a multi-layered lipid bilayer structure formed by the plasma membrane of neurolemma cells spirally winding along the axis of the axon. There are nodes of Ranvier on the myelin sheath, which can make the nerve impulse jump and transmit. Myelin staining has certain significance in pathological diagnosis, and the pathological changes of myelin are divided into early, middle and late stages. In the early stage, the staining is darker; in the middle stage of the lesion, myelin sheath degeneration forms lipid droplets, which can be displayed by lipid staining, and in the later stage, it is completely decomposed and cleared by phagocytes, and there is no positive result of myelin sheath. Many diseases can cause myelin sheath changes. The myelin sheath staining kit (improved Page method), also known as Saros chrome cyanine myelin sheath staining solution, can show whether the myelin sheath is complete, degenerated, necrotic and repaired under pathological conditions. It is meaningful for the pathological diagnosis and research of nerve tissue, the myelin sheath is blue, and the demyelinated fibers are not colored.
