Giemsa’s staining solution

Giemsa solution is composed of Azure and Eosin, to smear specimens including blood cells, plasmodium, rickettsia, bone marrow cells, spinal cord cells, chromosome etc. It can stain cell nuclei into purple or blue-purple, and cytoplasm into pink, showing clear images of cells and chromosomes under a light microscope.

The chemical properties of various cell components are different, and the affinity for various dyes is also different. The eosinophilic particles are basic proteins that combine with the eosin to be dyed pink; basophilic particles such as nucleoprotein or lymphocyte cytoplasm are acidic substances that are combined with the azure to be dyed purple-blue; and the neutral particles are in an isoelectric state can be combined with eosin and azure are to be dyed lavender. Various components are distinguished due to their own characteristics and the combination of different substances in Giemsa dye solution and present different colors.

Giemsa solution is mainly used to show the difference in the morphology and size of various blood cells in blood smears, with good staining effect, strong staining power and clear staining.
