Water [DEPC Treated]
DEPC-treated water is used in molecular biology for applications involving RNA and DNA, such as PCR, reverse transcription, and RNA transcription, to prevent accidental degradation by inhibiting RNase enzymes. DEPC (Diethyl pyrocarbonate) inactivates RNases by permanently modifying specific amino acids in their structure, while autoclaving hydrolyzes the DEPC, removing it from the water before use.
