Available phosphorus is the phosphorus component in the soil that can be absorbed by plants, including all water-soluble phosphorus, partially adsorbed phosphorus, easily mineralized organic phosphorus, and some dissolved phosphorus. Decomposed precipitated phosphate and available phosphorus in the soil are one of the main factors that restrict plant growth.

The acid-soluble phosphorus and adsorbed phosphorus are extracted by the diacid method, and the molybdenum blue and phosphate generate a substance with a characteristic absorption peak at 660nm.
