Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Activity Assay kit
PDH (EC 4.1.1.1) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms and cultured cells. It is the rate-limiting enzyme for pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDHC) to catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate and catalyze the production of pyruvate deshuttle. Hydroxyethyl-TPP connects glycolysis with the tricarboxylic acid cycle.
PDH catalyzes the dehydrogenation of pyruvic acid and simultaneously reduces 2,6-dichlorophenol indophenol (2,6-DCPIP), resulting in a decrease in light absorption at 600nm.
