Pyruvate Carboxylase Activity Assay kit
Pyruvate carboxylase (PC, EC 6.4.1.1) is widely present in the mitochondria of animals, molds and yeasts, catalyzing pyruvate, ATP, CO2 and water to produce oxaloacetate, ADP and Pi. The first rate-limiting enzyme in the gluconeogenesis process plays an important role in ensuring the dynamic balance of blood sugar.
PC catalyzes pyruvate, ATP, CO2 and water to produce oxaloacetate, ADP and Pi, and malate dehydrogenase further catalyzes oxaloacetate and NADH to produce malate and NAD+. The NADH oxidation rate can be measured at 340nm. Reflects PC activity.
