Protein Free Thiol Content Assay kit
The presence of sulfhydryl allows proteins to undergo disulfide bond formation, therebymaintaining molecular stability and functionality. Sulfhydryl are also involved in redoxreactionsand have important biological roles. In cells, changes in sulfhydryl content are closely relatedtotheonset and progression of a variety of diseases, and thus sulfhydryl have become an important objectof study in the biomedical field. This kit determines the free sulfhydryl content of proteins. Under certain conditions, sulfhydryl group will undergo nucleophilic reaction, i.e. sulfhydrylgroup reacts with 5,5'-dithio-bis-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) to produce a yellowcolor compoundwith a maximum absorption peak at 412 nm, from which the free sulfhydryl content of proteincanbe calculated.
