Sucrose is the main product of plant photosynthesis and the main form of sugar transportation and storage. Therefore, the determination of sucrose content is of great significance for plant sugar metabolism. First heat the sample with the base to destroy the reducing sugar in it. Then under acidic conditions, sucrose is hydrolyzed to produce glucose and fructose. Fructose further reacts with resorcinol to produce colored substances with a characteristic absorption peak at 480nm.
