Perl's Prussian Blue staining Kit (for cells only)

Perl's Prussian Blue stain is mainly used to display iron ions in cells, which are commonly found in phagocytes and can well distinguish hemosiderin from other pigments. The dyeing solution has good stability, can be stored for a long time, is not prone to precipitation, has a wide range of applications, and can be counterstained. This kit is suitable for Perl's staining of cells, but its staining intensity is affected by the content of free iron ions. Too low a content may result in no Blue color being produced.

Perl's Prussian Blue reaction is also called hemosiderin staining. It can produce Blue color after being treated with potassium ferrocyanide and dilute acid. It is common in phagocytes or interstitium. The staining principle lies in ferrous iron. The potassium cyanide solution causes the ferric ions to be separated from the protein by dilute hydrochloric acid. The ferric iron reacts with potassium ferrocyanide to form an insoluble Blue compound, ferric ferrocyanide.
