Pectin Content Assay kit

Pectin is one of the main components of plant cell walls. It is divided into water-soluble pectin and insoluble pectin. Insoluble pectin is original pectin (alkali-soluble pectin). Pectin is a natural polymer compound with good gelation and emulsification stabilization effects, and has been widely used in food, medicine, daily chemical and textile industries. Protopectin is hydrolyzed into soluble pectin in dilute acid, and is further converted into galacturonic acid with the original soluble pectin.

The product is condensed with carbazole in strong acid to form a purple-red compound with a characteristic absorption peak at 530 nm.
