Fe3+ can form a purple complex with sulfosalicylic acid at pH 2 with a characteristic absorption peak at 510 nm. Oxalate and oxalate can make the purple complex of Fe3+ and sulfosalicylic acid lighter, and the absorbance of Fe3+ and sulfosalicylic acid complex decreases with the increase of oxalic acid, according to this calculate the content of oxalic acid in the sample from the reduced absorbance value.
