Mitochondrial Complex IV Activity Assay kit
Mitochondrial Complex IV, also known as cytochrome C oxidase, is also a common component of the main and branch pathways of the mitochondrial respiratory electron transport chain. It is responsible for catalyzing the oxidation of reduced cytochrome C, and finally transferring electrons to oxygen to produce water.
Reduced cytochrome C has characteristic light absorption at 550nm. Mitochondrial complex IV catalyzes reduced cytochrome C to produce oxidized cytochrome C. Therefore, the decrease rate of light absorption at 550nm can reflect the enzyme activity of mitochondrial complex IV.
