Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase/Aspartate Aminotransferase Activity Assay kit
Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase (EC 2.6.1.1, hereinafter referred to as GOT), also known as Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), is mainly present in tissues such as myocardium, liver, and kidney. It catalyzes the amino transfer reaction between L-aspartate and alpha-ketoglutarate and participates in amino acid metabolism and energy metabolism. Clinically, the detection of serum GOT is one of the important indicators to evaluate liver function and myocardial injury.
GOT catalyzes the amino conversion of L-aspartic acid and alpha-ketoglutarate to produce oxaloacetic acid and L-glutamic acid. Oxalacetic acid is reduced to L-malic acid in the presence of malate dehydrogenase and NADH, and NADH is oxidized to NAD+, which reduces the absorbance value at 340 nm. The kit calculates GOT activity by measuring the rate of decrease in absorbance at 340 nm.
