Fungal Fluorescence stain kit (CFW method)
Calcofluor white (CFW) is a nonspecific fluorescent brightening dye that can bind to beta-linked glucosides, such as cellulose and chitin, to emit fluorescence. In plant biology, CFW is used to show changes in cell wall production during cell wall biosynthesis in algae and higher plants, as well as to identify protoplast cells.
This kit consists of CFW staining solution and CFW diluent, which can be used for rapid detection of fungal samples. CFW staining solution is a complex solution containing fluorescein and a coloring agent that inhibits background fluorescence. If the specimen to be tested contains fungi, fluorescein will bind to ?-polysaccharides on the cell wall of non-specific fungi, such as chitin and cellulose, and produce blue fluorescence under UV excitation light. CFW diluent can be used to dissolve cutin, which helps to observe the fungal structure more clearly.
