Carboxylesterase Activity Assay kit
Mammal CarE, also known as aliphatic esterase (aliesterase), is widely distributed in tissues and organs and belongs to the serine hydrolase family. CarE catalyzes the hydrolysis of endogenous and exogenous substances containing ester bonds, amide bonds and thioester bonds, but cannot catalyze the hydrolysis of acetylcholine and its analogs. CarE participates in lipid transport and metabolism, and is related to the detoxification and metabolism of various drugs, environmental toxicants and carcinogens. Organophosphorus pesticides can bind to and inhibit CarE activity.
CarE can catalyze the formation of naphthyl acetate from 1-naphthyl acetate, which develops solid blue color; by measuring the increase rate of light absorption at 450 nm, the activity of CarE is calculated.
