BME w/ Hank’s salts & L-Glutamine

BME (Basal Medium Eagle) contains a balanced mix of basic nutrients, including essential amino acids, vitamins, and inorganic salts.. It is not a complete medium on its own. For most cell cultures, it must be supplemented with additional components, most commonly 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS), to provide the necessary lipids, proteins, and growth factors.

BME was initially formulated to support the monolayer cultivation of HeLa cells and mouse fibroblast L cells. The development of BME led to other, more complex media formulations, such as Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) and Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium (DMEM).
