beta-Glucosidase Activity Assay kit
beta-GC (EC 3.2.1.21) is widely present in animals, plants, microorganisms and cultured cells. It catalyzes the hydrolysis of beta-glycosidic bonds and has various physiological effects. In the saccharification of cellulose, beta-GC is responsible for further hydrolyzing cellobiose and cellulose oligosaccharides to produce glucose.
beta-GC decomposes p-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside to generate p-nitrophenol, the latter has a maximum absorption peak at 400nm.
