Normal Goat serum
Normal goat serum is primarily used as a blocking agent in antibody-based experiments, such as immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and immunoassays, to prevent non-specific binding of antibodies to tissues or proteins. It saturates binding sites, reducing background signal and improving the specificity of the assay. It is also used as a component in antibody diluent buffers and can act as a negative control in some applications.
While using, dilute the blocking serum stock solution 10 or 20 times with PBS (0.01mol/L pH7.2-7.4) to make a 10% or 5% working solution, and drop it directly on the tissue slice or cell smear Incubate at 37°C for 10-30 minutes, remove the serum, do not wash, add dropwise primary antibody working solution diluted in appropriate proportions, incubate at 37°C for 1-2h or 4°C overnight.
