Malondialdehyde Content Assay kit
Oxygen free radicals act on the unsaturated fatty acids of lipids to produce lipid peroxides; the latter gradually decomposes into a series of complex compounds, including MDA. The level of lipid oxidation can be detected by detecting the level of MDA.
MDA is condensed with thiobarbituric acid (TBA) to produce a red product with a maximum absorption peak at 532nm. After colorimetry, the content of lipid peroxide in the sample can be estimated; the absorbance at 600nm is measured at the same time, The difference in absorbance between 532nm and 600nm was used to calculate the MDA content.
