Glutamic-Oxalacetic Transaminase/Aspartate Aminotransferase Activity Assay kit
GOT/AST (2.6.1.1) widely exists in animals, plants, microorganisms and cultured cells. It catalyzes the reversible amino reaction and is an important enzyme for amino acid metabolism. In addition, GOT has the highest content in myocardial cells, and is generally used as an auxiliary examination for myocardial infarction and myocarditis in clinical practice. The serum concentration can also increase when the liver is damaged.
GOT catalyzes the transamination reaction of alpha-homoglutarate and aspartic acid to produce glutamic acid and oxaloacetic acid. Oxaloacetic acid further decarboxylates itself to produce pyruvate; pyruvate can be combined with 2,4-dinitro 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazone reacts to produce 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone, which appears brown-red under alkaline conditions; the GOT enzyme activity can be calculated by measuring the change in absorbance at 505nm.
